Superfood Mocha

I used to love indulging in espresso beverages, but these days I try to avoid the caffeine overload! I still visit cafes and eagerly order up my decaf espresso drink as a treat from time to time, when organic decaf beans are available. But then I thought, why should I limit myself when I can make tasty ‘espresso’ beverages at home that also offer great nutritional benefits! I decided to get creative in the kitchen and came up with a sensational Superfood Mocha! It offers that delicious choco-coffee taste and it’s full of the good stuff, including Dandy Blend!

Dandy Blend is what gives this beverage its delicious coffee-like taste and it’s also packed with lots of nutritional benefits, including:

· Caffeine-free (great coffee substitute)

· Liver supporting food

· Helps our bodies detoxify

· Lowers blood sugar levels

· Acts as a diuretic

And it’s not only the Dandy Blend that packs a nutritional punch in this super beverage! Mesquite is a powder produced by grinding mesquite seeds. It has a caramel-like flavour and is great to use in hot beverages and in baking. It helps stabilize blood sugar and has antioxidant properties. Cacao is another great superfood in this delicious hot beverage! It also offers antioxidant properties and is a great source of magnesium. Superfood powerhouse? I think so!

Here is the recipe for my Superfood Mocha:

Yield: 1 serving

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk

2 teaspoons Dandy Blend

1 teaspoon cacao powder

1 teaspoon mesquite powder

1 teaspoon coconut oil

1 teaspoon honey

Directions:

1. Whisk all ingredients together in small pot.

2. Continue whisking and turn on medium heat and bring to boil.

3. Remove from heat once boiled. Enjoy!
