Mantra meditation is a technique that draws on the calming effect of soothing sound vibrations. Repeating a mantra over and over in a meditation allows us to detach from our thoughts and observe them unemotionally, until we reach a place of mental calmness and neutrality – a state known as ‘pure consciousness’.
