What Does a Nutritionist Do and Why Should I Care?

The old adage, “You are what you eat” is true. Deep down, we all know it. Feed your body the right, clean, wholesome fuel and you will feel healthier, have more energy, and prevent and manage health issues. That simple.

Somewhere along the way, gradually, over time, we have gotten away from this. We live very busy lives in an increasingly hectic world, and our general health is suffering. This begins with what we put in our bodies. ‘Quick and easy’ processed foods have become the norm. We’ve put on weight and started feeling unwell because we’ve reached for this stuff too many times. It infiltrates all areas of our lives, from the high street, to the grocery store, to our fridges and pantries.

We live in a ‘quick fix’ and ‘worry about it later’ world. We are sold processed crap – food-like products that in actual fact really aren’t food at all, but combinations of sugar, fat, salt and synthetic god-knows-what, designed to hit the ‘bliss point’ of our taste buds with laser-sighted accuracy. We get hooked on these food-like products like a drug. Our taste buds become conditioned to expect every bite to send our synapses firing. We do this over and over again and we get sick. Then we go to a doctor, get pills to mask the symptoms and carry on with the same behaviour.

This is a generalization, of course, but for most of us it isn’t too far from the truth, and it’s ruining our quality of life. When we decide to do something about it, we don’t know where to turn, such is the power of the ‘diet’ community. But here’s some news: There’s no such thing as ‘a diet’, only ‘your diet’, and that’s the way you eat every single day of your life. It’s not about paying more money to eat more processed crap for a few weeks because it has a Low Fat/Diet/Low Calorie label emblazoned on the side, only to shed a few pounds and gradually pile it all back on again because this fad diet approach simply isn’t sustainable.

Your diet – the food you eat – sustains you. It is your fuel. It is your preventative medicine. There’s no way around it – you ARE what you EAT, and you are completely unique.

Don’t read the Canada Food Guide and imagine we are all the same. We’re not. We all have different tolerances and sensitivities to different foods. Sure, there are certain foods that are generally good to put in your body and certain foods that are generally bad, but it isn’t always black and white.

As a Holistic Nutritionist, I have training and tools to be able to get to know YOU – the unique individual. I will spend the time to learn about your health goals and challenges. I will look at all your bodily systems. I will take into consideration not only your diet, but many other factors relating to your lifestyle. Then, once I know you, and only then I will make recommendations specifically for YOU that could change your quality of life completely and allow you to become your optimal self.

No bulls**t. No gimmicks. No labels. Just real food, real advice, and real results.

Make an appointment with me today. We’ll look deep within you and start you out on a path to a whole new life. I can even create meal plans with recipes you can follow to nourish your body with the goodness it deserves.

Let’s look deep within.

A NUTRITIONIST CAN HELP YOU CHANGE, FROM THE INSIDE-OUT.

That’s what I can do for you. Perhaps meeting with me – just taking that first small step – is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
